Bismillāh ar-Rahmān ar-Rahīm
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Have you recently smelled the sweet smell of graduation freedom?
Free now from the binds & rigor of tertiary education & yet tasting your long-awaited accomplishment with low spirits?

Mendaki Club hears you! The President of Mendaki Club  wrote “I was fortunate to graduate at a time that was less difficult for the global economy, and I know that many of you will feel that you face several challenges now. Many of these are significant, but can in fact be dealt with if you have the right aptitudes and attitudes.”

That sums up the theme for this year’s Graduates’ Tea that will be held at Furama Riverfront Hotel this 11th July 2009.

If you are a local or overseas graduate of Class 2007, 2008 or 2009, don’t miss this opportunity for networking and also to hear from the professionals and to pick up certain valuable skills!

The speakers for the evening would be Mr Zaqy Mohd, Mr Abdul Rahim Tahir, Mr Sujimy Mohd and Ms Haslinda Zamani. Check out their respective profiles here.

We managed to get in touch with Ms Dian, the Chairman for the Graduates’ Tea and asked her several questions.

IsE: How would the graduates benefit by attending this session?

Ms Dian: They will get to interact with professionals, maximise their career options and the professionals can help with their starting years. With the numbers attending, they will be able to widen their network & social circles and to know the key players in their respective fields.

IsE: How would this year’s tea session be different than the previous years?

Ms Dian: For this year, the key message is to remain resilient. We want the graduates to know that they are like diamonds. Diamonds are resilient and even under much pressure, diamonds will still shine. Also there is a focus on entrepreneurship, on top of the various options they have like furthering education or getting into the working world. We would try to assist them with their necessary skills. Last year the message was World at Your Feet. This year caters to the current crisis and therefore, the imagery of the resilient diamond.

IsE: Any words of advice for the new graduates?

Ms Dian: Make full use of the current economic crisis. Think positive. Make the best out of the situation. Even if you are unemployed upon graduation, use it as an opportunity to think about what path you might want to take that you might not have considered before. Business might be the solution for you. Do not be negative and let the current economic atmosphere bring you down.

As an incentive, all participants at this year’s Graduates’ Tea will receive an email version of the Weekly Inspiration from the Qur’an! Just sign up at Islamicevents.sg’s booth on the day itself. We’ll see you there insyaAllah!
