Recently we met Bro Alief ( Born in Singapore but living in Seremban ) in one of the Internet Seminars in Singapore. As he introduced himself to us, he actually thanked us for having this portal as it was convenient for him to find Musollahs in Singapore.

We can only thank him for being a great sport to allow us to shoot this video of him.

As some of you might know, the musollah listings has existed way before Islamicevents.sg. We are merely passing down the information from the creator of the list - Bro Jureni Yusoff.

Furthermore we have made the list Open for anyone in public to help update us of the locations.

Fortunately in Singapore we have many musollahs located all over. Some are equipped with the sejadahs and telekung while others are just places kept clean.

A question that bugs readers are, “Whats that red line showing? Where does it end?”

Glad you asked. The feature had been there for quite some time, but we’d like to see what your reaction was before revealing it to you

The red line shows the direction of the qiblat… and yes, it points towards Mekkah. So if your Islamic events are not situated in a Masjid, rest assured that you can always use our maps to find your qiblat direction.

The inspiration comes from www.qiblalocator.com (do visit their wonderful website). We thought its a great idea, so we  came up with the code and made it automated for the Singapore context (our dear brother Fazli coded the entire thing).

This mere red line thing also signals the next big project the three of us in IslamicSGNetworks are doing, which is the Singapore Musollah Databank. You might have received an excel file in your email every now and then showing the location of musollahs in Singapore. The contents keep changing as its passed from email to email but no one seems to know if he/she has the updated copy. Hence the inspiration to do a centralised Mussollah database where the whole community can edit and look up at the same time and actually see wheres its qiblat direction.

We’ve tracked down Brother Jureni Yussoff, the one who started this list and sought his permission to do create this databank for the benefit of our community. He has since given us his blessings and we’ve almost completed the final phase of this project. Alhamdulillah.
