retreat

What is Seerah? Seerah means the life of Prophet Muhammad, salallahu alaihi wasallam - a collection of narrations about the life, times, people and events surrounding the Prophet (s).

How much do we know about the Pinnacle of Allah's creation, whom Allah Himself has called His Beloved? He is the one upon whom Allah and His Angels are making continuous prayers since creation began. And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has asked that we love and follow him, salallahu alaihi wasallam.

Say: 'If ye do love Allah, follow me [i.e. Muhammad]: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.' (Holy Quran: 3:31)

'You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah.' (Holy Quran: 33:21)

To love Sayyidina Muhammad (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him), we should learn, understand and appreciate his life and struggles. How did Prophet Muhammad (s) conduct his life with his family, companions, community and nations?

Prophet Muhammad (s) is kind, compassionate, caring, generous and humble, but he also strong, brave, eloquent, wise and insightful. He's a great planner, organiser and thinker, yet he's also a man of faith, trust and devotion to Allah. He's involved and active with his family and community but he did not neglect his servitude to Allah. He's exemplary as a teacher, preacher, imam, leader, statesman, judge, commander of the armies as well as a husband, a father, a grandfather, a businessman, a neighbour, and a friend.

Every detail about Prophet Muhammad (s) is of great importance for us to affirm our faith and our commitment to Islam, Allah and His Messenger (s). Understanding the events of Prophet Muhammad's (s) life will also bring clarity to our understanding of the Holy Quran. We cannot begin to love Prophet Muhammad (s) if we do not know about him, his sacrifices, struggles, trials and tribulations. In fact, learning the Seerah will also benefit us in coping and conducting our own lives, and through the Seerah, we can be hopeful when we are faced with various trials and tribulations.

The Seerah Retreat is all about knowing our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s) in deep and loving detail. We know from Prophetic traditions (hadith) that our faith is not complete till we love Allah's Messenger (s) more than our 'father, children and all mankind'.

Insha'Allah the eminent Shaykh Ahmad Muhammad Saad Ash-Shafi'ie Al-Azhari Al-Hasani will take us back in history and guide us in understanding and appreciating the life and times of Allah's Beloved, Sayyidina Muhammad, salallahu alaihi wasallam, and help us to propel our lives further in the footsteps of the Prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam.
