Academic & Lifeskills Coaching Programme Coach (ALCP)
What is ALCP?
• In 2010, Yayasan MENDAKI piloted the ALCP to address the high attrition rate of Malay/Muslim students at the Institute of Technical Education (ITEs).
• ALCP provides academic and emotional support to ensure that students remain motivated, complete their ITE education and hopefully, further their studies in the polytechnics or private institutions.
• This programme is targeted at selected Malay/Muslim ITE students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Programme Structure
• Coaches are integral to this programme. Our coaches provide 8 hours of tuition and mentoring a month to the students assigned to them.
• Coaches with relevant qualification or experience will be assigned to two ITE students. This year, the students will be selected from the following areas of studies.
• Engineering
• Electronics & Info-comm Technology
• Business and Services
What is required of an ALCP coach?
• 18 years and above
• Good academic results in a relevant course.
• Coach and mentor students for at least 8 hours every month
• Able to commit to the programme until end-December 2012.
• Compulsory attendance for Basic Mentoring Training.
• Compulsory attendance at Initiation, big group gatherings and sharing sessions.
• Submit monthly student report and attendance sheet by the 5th of every month.

• Coaches are provided an allowance of $280 per month.
• You will be certified in Basic Mentoring Training.
• Certificate of Appreciation and testimonial for your contribution in this programme.
• Your efforts will contribute in moving the community towards Excellence
