Wallahu ta'ala a'lam wasollallahu 'ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa 'ala Aalihi wa Sahbihi wassalam walhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Aalamin.

Rangkaian dagangan baru galak sistem ekonomi Islam

Oleh Atiyyah Mohd Said

British Muslim writer and broadcaster, Idris Tawfiq, has a degree in English language and Literature from the University of Manchester and a degree in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome. For many years he was Head of Religious Studies in different schools in England and Wales and has much experience of teaching, both in the UK and Egypt. Before embracing Islam, Idris was a Roman Catholic priest.

Idris Tawfiq is much in demand as a speaker. His style of speaking is both simple and very gentle, touching hearts, as well as causing people to think. Idris points out that he is not an Islamic scholar, but rather has a way of explaining things about Islam in a very simple way. He has considerable experience in leading retreats and In-Service training for both students and adults. He uses this vast experience of dealing with ordinary people and explaining matters of faith to them to enliven his writing and style of speaking, making them both interesting and easy to understand. He tries to explain Islam to those in the West who are not Muslim.

Because of his background, Idris Tawfiq is also heavily involved in the work of inter-faith dialogue. "We should never feel threatened by goodness," he says, "wherever it comes from." In his travels, Idris has met many religious and civic leaders, extending a hand of friendship on behalf of all Muslims.

As a writer, Idris Tawfiq has written for newspapers and periodicals in the United Kingdom and has been a regular contributor and Consultant to islamonline.net and readingislam.com. Idris has a weekly column in three Egyptian newspapers: every Friday in Sawt Al-Azhar, the newspaper of Al-Azhar University; every Tuesday in Egyptian Mail and every Saturday inEgyptian Gazette.

He is the author of the following books:

Gardens of Delight: a simple introduction to Islam

Talking to Young Muslims

Talking to New Muslims

Talking to Muslims in the West

Talking About Ramadan

Calling Others to Islam

Talking About Other faiths

Looking for Peace in the Land of the Prophets

Idris Tawfiq is a lecturer in the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Al-Azhar University.

Travelling all over the globe, Idris speaks about Islam both to Muslim and non-Muslim groups. He is very popular with Muslim youth and has spoken in over forty universities worldwide. Idris is also heavily involved as a speaker on television and radio, having made nearly a hundred tv programmes.

As a Muslim, Idris Tawfiq has a deep love for the Arab world. Stories and characters from Cairo and the Arab world often find their way into his writing. After a while as Director of the Post Graduate Research Centre at Al-Fatih Islamic Institute in Damascus, Idris Tawfiq now lives in Egypt. Often asked why he chooses the Middle East as a base from which to speak to people in the West about Islam, rather than living in London, Idris says that the culture and the people of that region are a fertile source of inspiration for him. He now divides his time between his home in Egypt and his travels around the world.

If you know that you would to die soon, what would you do?

Besides desiring mercy from our Allah swt, I would also wish to be forgiven by people I made mistakes to. Hence it is always good to have this as part of our daily reminders to forgive others.

In our Facebook Page..

We have actually set this prayer as a reminder on a daily basis at 10 pm each day.

Why Forgive?

We have to believe that for others to forgive you, we must first ask Allah swt for forgiveness and for us to forgive ourselves and others first. We shouldn't be waiting for others to forgive us. Its must start from us.

As we live day by day, we can never know some of our mistakes to others because there are mistakes that we don't even realise. And because of that, it irritated someone, made someone jealous and more. Whatever it is that hurts that person's heart, let's learn to forgive them first.

In some studies it shows that the reason people don't move on with their lives and stuck in situations is because they are not able to forgive. Ending up in unnecessary stress and ending up in a mess. Let's do our best not to get into those state.

Writing it here is easy but doing this could take a few minutes for us or for some or it may take years. Hence the reason we are always reminding ourselves about it daily...

Do join our Facebook Page to get status updates like above.

Salaam,

Having many Iranian friends (students, workers) who regularly advise me on what's going on in their country from both sides (pro-government and not-too-pro), I believe it is an exaggeration or misinterpretation of the advise of Ayatollah Golpaygani which the news source seems to reframe as a 'decree'.

I know many good Iranians who also happen to be devoted Muslims who still use Facebook for good purposes, and they also respect and follow the advices of Ayatollah Golpaygani and other scholars on many different aspects of their lives.

Anyway, the news source from Defence.pk also cites its source from Haaretz, an Israeli news agency. Knowing the political relationship between Israel and Iran, I think it's not surprising that they would want to paint Iran in as most negative a light as possible.

Recently in World News, a senior Iranian Cleric, Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani declared that it is Haram to use Facebook. See below extract.

Source: www.defence.pk

And since he deems it un-Islamic to own a Facebook page, it's therefore a sin:

"Basically, going to any website which propagates immoralities and could weaken the religious belief is un-Islamic and not allowed, and membership in it is therefore haram (a sin)," the ayatollah replied.

"Only the use of websites propagating religious criteria and not leading to any kind of ethical immoralities is of no problem," he added.Iran has a population of 70 million, of which than 60 per cent is under the age of 30.

Over 5 million websites are reportedly blocked in Iran, but Iranians use proxy software and virtual private networks (VPN) to access them.

Iranian officials have, for over three decades, been waging what they call a "battle against the invasion of Western culture."

This has led to blockades of "immoral" internet sites and banned Western music and movies. However, pirated versions of those are easily available on the black market.

Iran at this moment have actually banned facebook from the country however as mention above, the youths do have ways to sneak through it.

So what do you think? Do you agree with the statement?

In our point of view, Facebook as a social networking element is not all bad. Infact, it's a double edge sword: meaning it can be for bad purposes and at the same time spread good work.

In the past it was impossible to connect old lost friends, today through Facebook it has been made easy. Today its easier to announce something, compare to in the past where you have to pay hundreds of dollars just to publicise your messages. And there are many more to lists down.

Facebook does has its benefits however note that people can also use it for the bad things. I wouldn't want to mention all the issues that has arrised cos as you know negative information will tend to overwhelm the postive.

At the end of the day, it boils down to one's intentions of how they are using it. Let's do good, share great things about Allah swt and his messenger, Muhammad SAW. Insyallah you will also gain great rewards.
Do share your point of views.

However there are some hiccups in the production line. Firstly we would like to apologize for the delay and we would like to assure you that the DVD will be in your hands soon.

One of the reasons that its delayed is because that the Producers found a small mistake and had to re-redo certain aspects of the Animations.

At this moment, we are doing our best to push for it to be ready as soon as possible.. When its ready we will make another announcement here.

Assalammualaikum wr wb,

Alhamdulillah. Its been a long journey and we have since completed the 10th Majlis Selawat. Yesterday, the Majlis Selawat Committee had a post event meeting. A lot of negative feedback for the last session yet many constructive suggestions were given to improve future Majlis.

One of which is to balance the amount of Tazkirahs and Qasidahs. We have also realise that as we go along there's more talks than qasidahs. To reach out to the hearts of the Jemaah, Qasidahs are an important element. Furthermore what's a Majlis Selawat with very few Qasidahs right? Insyallah this will be work on for the next Selawat Session.

A review of external activities should be considered if it will fit the environment of Majlis. From yesterdays feedback, the (wedding ceremony) should not be inserted into the program as it did not fit the flow of the program or if that would be done, it could be planned better to make flow nicer. A more artistic direction would be considered to enhance the Majlis.

Whatever the feedbacks were, the committee understands the problems now and wish to keep improving the Majlis from siri to siri. We also would like to apologize on behalf of the committee if we lack in any matters during the session.

Let's move on. Its confirm the next Majlis will be on the 5th of February 2012 in line with 12 Rabiulawal 1433H. This time Majlis Selawat is part of a 3 day Maulid programme by Sultan Mosque. Majlis will be on the 3rd day while the first two days there will be Forums, Competitions and more. Do look out for the details soon.
This is what TWINS OF FAITH is all about. The theme Ilm & Amal became the two pillars that guides that 2 day event organised by MERCY MISSION as the objective is to learn as much as you can and apply the knowledge when necessary.

Yes the founders of Islamicevents.sg had a short trip to KL & Putrajaya (Where the event was) during the Christmas break to check out this grand event.

It is really exciting to bring back this tradition of using Dinar & Dirham to buy or purchase items from our online shop.

For you to understand why we are bringing this tradition, here's a little history.

Source: http://www.islamicmint.com/dinar_dirham/index.html

1. History of the Dinar & Dirham

In the beginning the Muslims used gold and silver by weight and the dinar and dirhams that they used were made by the Persians.

The first dated coins that can be assigned to the Muslims are copies of silver dirhams of the Sassanian Yezdigird III, struck during the Khalifate of Uthman, radiy'allahu anhu. These coins differ from the original ones in that an Arabic inscription is found in the obverse margins, normally reading "in the Name of Allah". Since then the writing in Arabic of the Name of Allah and parts of Qur'an on the coins became a custom in all mintings made by Muslims.

Under what was known as the coin standard of the Khalif Umar Ibn al-Khattab, the weight of 10 dirhams was equivalent to 7 dinars (mithqals).

In the year 75 (695 CE) the Khalifah Abdalmalik ordered Al-Hajjaj to mint the first dirhams, thus he established officially the standard of Umar Ibn al-Khattab. In the next year he ordered the dirhams to be minted in all the regions of the Dar al-Islam. He ordered that the coins be stamped with the sentence: "Allah is Unique, Allah is Eternal". He ordered the removal of human figures and animals from the coins and that they be replaced with letters.

This command was then carried on throughout all the history of Islam. The dinar and the dirham were both round, and the writing was stamped in concentric circles. Typically on one side it was written the "tahlil" and the "tahmid", that is, "la ilaha ill'Allah" and "alhamdulillah"; and on the other side was written the name of the Amir and the date. Later on it became common to introduce the blessings on the Prophet, salla'llahu alayhi wa sallam, and sometimes, ayats of the Qur'an.

Gold and silver coins remained official currency until the fall of the Khalifate. Since then, dozens of different paper currencies were made in each of the new postcolonial national states created from the dismemberment of Dar al-Islam.

Allah says in the Qur'an:

And amongst the People of the Book there are those who, if you were to entrust them with a treasure (qintar), he would return it to you. And amongst them is he who, if you were to entrust him with a dinar would not return it to you, unless you kept standing over him. Qur'an (3,75)

Here we are just doing our small part to revive this lost tradition. In fact to revive this tradition, the dinar and dirham needs to be circulated around first. To begin with, individuals should start owning the dinar and dirham, then trade it with people or businesses who accepts the dinar and dirham to allow it to circulate.

There are many versions of the Dinar & Dirham. There are Australian versions, there are Brunei versions etc and it can be confusing at times. Furthermore the prices of the Gold & Silver is also different. Some are in ounce and some are in grams. So which do we follow.

Since we were introduced to the Dinar and Dirham by Ustaz Noor Deros, he explains that there is a body called World Islamic Mint who are developing standards so that us Muslims can trade among each other without much variation in prices. Imagine one day you can just bring the recognised version of the Dinar Dirham and use it to buy anything around the world. How cool is that right?

If you see our online shop, we have put up the sales of the Dinar and Dirham for you to acquire it. Please note that the price from the World Islamic Mint when converted to Singapore is also including taxes (7% GST), shipping fees and also a little margin for the people who brings the Dinar in to Singapore. As gold and silver is a control item in Singapore, we have to adhere to all the costs. So that is why it is a little more expensive here than overseas.

For us @ Islamicevents.sg we charge an extra $7 for delivery to your homes. You may also purchase books, cds and others along with it during your online orders to save the delivery cost.

To date, there are a growing number of Muslim businesses beginning to accept the Dinar & Dirham and these process of establishing and introducing this to the merchants and businesses will take some time.

So if you wish to acquire the Dinar & Dirham, you can visit this page >> Online Shop

And if you wish to purchase any of our items, books, cds from Islamicevents.sg we welcome it. For Dinar & Dirham payments, please choose Payment On Delivery option during the check out process and indicate in remarks that you wish to pay by Dinar & Dirham.

Just a last note. Regardless of where we go in the world, Gold and Silver will always be valuable as it can be sold and traded where as the value of our current curries fluctuates and we may not gain nor benefit from holding them in the long run. We can discuss this further and we welcome comments from you.

Note that Comments are moderated, if we feel that the questions are personal, we will answer you directly via email and please comment responsibly.
